Choosing jewellery for a kanjivaram saree

A kanjivaram does most of the talking - deep silk, gold zari, borders that catch every light. The jewellery's job is to complete the picture without competing with it. Terracotta does this unusually well, and here is how we advise customers to match a set to their saree. Start from the border, not the body. The border and pallu carry the saree's strongest colour. Match your jewellery to that - a red-and-gold border wants kemp reds; a green pallu loves emerald-toned stones with antique gold. Contrast beats camouflage. Jewellery the exact colour of the saree disappears against it. Pick the accent colour instead: with a mustard saree and purple border, purple-tinted stones or plain antique gold will read far richer than yellow-on-yellow. One statement, everything else quiet. If the neck piece is a grand haaram, keep earrings simple - small jhumkas or studs. If you love oversized jhumkas, wear a slimmer choker.
